Want to attend the Big Ideas Workshop, but not sure how to bring up the subject with your boss?
We’ve got your back. Below is a sample email to make the process a little easier!
Dear [insert boss’ name here],
I would like your support and approval to attend the Rural Youth Project’s 2020 [insert local workshop name here] Big Ideas Workshop in [insert town] on [insert date].
I know what you’re probably thinking, “What is the Rural Youth Project and why do I want to attend?”.
Well, the Rural Youth Project is an international grassroots movement for positive change to empower young people (18 to 28 years of age) to develop their leadership, enterprise & activism skills, to play an integral part in making rural places attractive and viable for young people to build their lives and their futures there.
The Big Ideas Workshops are part of the Rural Youth Project’s long-term programme to reach out to all areas of Scotland to enable all young people to participate and become the next generation of leaders.
The Big Ideas Workshops are dedicated to helping young people who have a new business or social enterprise idea or working on an establish project that will benefit themselves and their local community, and by attending I will have the opportunity to develop my leadership, enterprise, community building and communication skills.
Not only will this benefit my project [insert information about project], but will also positively impact my workplace.
While attending, I’ll have the opportunity to meet and network with other rural young people as well as experienced business and industry leaders.
I would be happy to write a summary of my experience, and you can read more about the Big Ideas Workshops here.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I hope we can make this opportunity work.
Kind regards,
[your name]
