A learning journey is a trip of 5 – 7 days which aims to challenge participants to ‘think different’ about their rural community and businesses.
The Rural Youth Project jointly ran a learning journey to the Netherlands with Scottish Enterprise in 2019. Five Rural Youth Project delegates joined fifteen Scottish Enterprise Rural Leaders and visited a number of innovative businesses and organisations to examine the urban/rural relationship. Visits included a floating dairy, a meeting with Dutch young leaders, a zero-neutral chicken farm and a bakery that is bridging the urban-rural gap.
The 2019 Netherlands learning journey was led by 2018 and 2019 Ideas Festival delegate Dirk-Jan Kloet.
The Rural Youth Project is in the process of organising learning journeys to Finland and America. To be notified when expressions of interest to attend open, register below.
